Fun at the pool

Our neighborhood pool opened up this weekend so went to enjoy it on Sunday afternoon. At first Grant didn't want to get near the water but it wasn't long and he was walking right off the side in to the water without an ounce of fear. Here are some pictures that I took yesterday.

3 months down...

6 to go. Today marks the end of my first trimester and I couldn't be more thrilled that the end is in sight and soon I'll be feeling better. I don't know if I'm completely out of the woods, but today I woke up feeling less sick than usual. These past 3 months have been rough and actually Mike said the other day that he thinks that 2 will do it... only because he doesn't want to go through this again. Of course my question was WHAT did YOU go through???? I must say that Mike has been so good at taking over pretty much everything with Grant and the house once he gets home from work. I don't know how I would have gotten through without his help. He's been great.

Fun times

Grant's favorite thing in the world these days is riding in his new bike seat that Mike put on the back of his bike. He loves to go fast and only fusses when Mike has to put the brakes on. Here are some pictures that I took over the weekend.

Mother's Day

I wanted to post about my Mother's Day and just basically say how thankful I am for my son, my husband and baby on the way.

Mike got up with Grant yesterday morning and let me sleep in a little.... not that this is unusual. Mike is such an early riser (I am not) that most weekend mornings or really anytime that he doesn't have to go in to work early, he gets Grant up in the morning. These mornings are always glorious for me. Anyway, since I've been pregnant I've had cravings for doughnuts in the morning, although I haven't eaten them much because I feel guilty. So, I woke up to fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts, which were served to me in bed. Grant was walking behind Mike as they entered my room holding 2 cards in his little hands. The cards were both very sweet and Mike's card had little gift certificates that he had personally made such as... giving me a Saturday all to myself, cleaning bathrooms, doing laundry, making dinner (with dessert included!) Very nice. Mike also bought me a beautiful orchid corsage to wear to church, which I did. I wanted to get some pictures of Grant and I after church so we stopped by a pretty place in our neighborhood and got the camera out. As soon as I picked Grant up for the picture he pitched a fit and didn't want to be held, ripped off my corsage and then once he calmed down a bit, Mike tried to take the picture but the camera batteries had died. Go figure. So, no sweet Mother's Day picture like I wanted. We went home and grabbed a bite to eat before heading off to Lily's 1st birthday party. We had a fun afternoon with our close friends and good food.

My Mother's Day was most special just knowing that God has blessed me with the gift of being a mother. I couldn't imagine anything else I'd like to be in my life.

New talent

Grant is becoming quite the climber these days. Yesterday afternoon Mike put him down for a nap. He was making some noises and all of a sudden a loud BAM and then crying. Mike thought to himself, "No, he couldn't have taken a dive out of his crib." But, it was true. After just a minute of crying, he got a smile on his face. The mattress was on the second to lowest level so we moved it to the bottom in hopes that it might buy us some time. I guess time will tell when it will happen again. He's fearless these days!

Fun in Richmond

Everything looks good!

I'm pretty sure that all of my blogger friends know by now that I am pregnant. I haven't officially posted the news so this will be my first post on the topic. I am 8 weeks along and actually had my first OB visit today. Mike was off work today so we took Grant to MDO and it was nice having Mike there with me for this first visit. I'm going to a new OB and was really impressed by the office and staff. I met with the nurse practitioner today but I'll be back next week to meet the doctor. An ultrasound was done and it was wonderful to actually see the baby and the heartbeat. It certainly feels real now. Unfortunately I've already had quite a bit of morning sickness and if it's anything like my pregnancy with Grant, it won't get any better until the first trimester is over. Although a month more of feeling this way seems like an eternity! I forgot how good I had it before when I was pregnant and only having to take care of myself. It certainly has been more difficult having to care for Grant too. The due date is December 7th and since I'll have a scheduled section I'll probably deliver sometime the last week in November. This baby and Grant will certainly have close birthdays (Grant's is Dec. 3rd)!

I'm thinking that I need to change the title of this blog since it will not all be about Grant. I really hope to start blogging more!

Daddy's boy

Every day I see Grant looking more and more like Mike. That's OK by me... he'll always be handsome.

Jacob's birthday

Grant had a ball playing with his cousins in Richmond recently for Jacob's birthday. The picture where Grant is on his head truly captured the moment. He was definitely more interested in doing a somersault than getting his picture taken. The third picture is Lily Dowd...what a cutie.

Daddy's home!

Mike got back on Saturday from being in Key West training for 10 days. Grant is so excited to have him home and can't get enough Daddy time! These pictures were taken on Saturday shortly after Mike got home.

New Potty

Gran recently sent Grant this potty. Notice the toilet paper bar on one side and magazine/book holder on the other side. It's really cute. Let's just hope he figures out how to use it soon!

Toddler years here we come! Ready or not!

I've decided to start this blog to keep friends and family updated on all the happenings here in the Wallace house... i.e GRANT. I also think it will be a fun way for me to journal Grant's growth and the fun things that he does from day to day. I hear so many mom's tell me to start writing down things that he does and accomplishes because I will soon forget it. I hope that I can keep up with it. Plus, it will also be a way for me to post pictures without having to fill up inboxes!

Speaking of our little monkey... ever since he has started walking I have seen a completetly different side to him. I remember my mom telling me shortly after Grant was born that I have a strong willed child on my hands but really I haven't seen anything that concerned me too much...UNTIL NOW. Last week I bought 2 books on raising toddlers and I'm trying my best to learn how to handle this "new" child of mine. One of the books said that toddlers are not little people, they are in a class all their own. It was also a bit scary to read that the most challenging months of a mothers life are between 12 and 24 months. YIKES. I thought the first year was the hardest. Anyway, so Grant LOVES to be outside now that he can walk and the weather has warmed up. He still hasn't figured out how to stand up after he falls down so he'll just crawl until you pick him back up or he pulls himself up on something. Since it's been pretty windy outside, the wind knocks him over and then I pick him back up. This happens over and over and starts to wear me out. The other day we were playing outside in our neighborhood and he saw a little boy and girl playing and he walked straight over to them because he spotted the girl's little baby carriage (with wheels) that he wanted to play with. Thank goodness this little girl didn't mind but he just couldn't get enough of her little carriage. Of course I didn't want to stay there too long and knew the little girl probably wanted her toy back so I picked him up and he LOST it. Screamed and screamed! Please keep me in your prayers as I tackle my new job as mother of a toddler!
